Many people in the UK and other countries around the world have Denby pottery in their homes. Indeed, such products have proved popular among consumers for many years. Indeed, the roots of the company trace back nearly two centuries.
Recently, a lucky individual received pottery of this nature as a prize after taking part in a competition held for a good cause. A Denby-based skincare company named Deb ran the event to raise cash for the charity Skcin.
The organisation aims to educate people about the dangers of skin cancer and about issues to do with sun safety. It also emphasises the importance of early detection of the disease as a means of saving lives. The charity is particularly keen to work with groups who are considered to be at risk, in other words are thought to be particularly susceptible to the dangers of over exposure to ultra-violet light because of the activities they carry out.
During the fun day, a raffle was conducted and among the items on offer to winners was Denby pottery. It was not revealed who walked away with the pottery at the end of the day. Another contributor to the prizes was Makeney Hall.
Meanwhile, in addition to the raffle, there was a sun safety quiz and a Man Tan Challenge. Meanwhile, an ice cream van was also present and cupcakes were on sale.
The staff members involved in the event at Deb also got to dress down for the day and all the proceeds of the fundraiser were handed over by the firm’s managing director Jeff Bell to Skcin’s Antony Hubbard.
Commenting on the efforts, which generated a total of £1,000, Skcin said: “[We] would like to say a huge ‘thank-you’ to all employees at Deb – they all worked really hard and raised a fantastic amount for us which is very much appreciated and all will go to help the fight against skin cancer.”
