I love getting new shoes. I think it goes back to childhood. Although I don’t insist on wearing them home from the shop these days. Which is just as well really because I buy mine online now. Yes that’s right. I got sick of the crowds, the poor service from bored sixteen year old Saturday girls and most of all the inflated prices. I would try and wait for the sales, but it’s just one huge scrum. No fun at all.
The trouble with high street stores is all the overheads they have. All those staff and the rent etc. These costs are then passed on to you, the customer. If you buy shoes online, they are a whole cheaper, because online retailers can operate with much lower overheads – fewer staff and no expensive leases on prime locations.
Of course buying shoes online is a little different. You have to wait a few days for them to turn up of course, but when you think about the opening hours on the high street, it’s not really that convenient is it? Chances are you would have to wait until Saturday to pop into town to go shopping for shoes anyway. You need to double check the terms and conditions of the returns policy too, just in case you need to exchange them. After all, you can’t try them on. So don’t just go for the cheapest pair you can find. Make sure you’re buying from a reputable retailer who will let you exchange if needs be.
I’m not really an enthusiastic shopper anyway. I find the whole experience rather exhausting and dispiriting. I’d much rather boot up the laptop and browse online in my lunch hour or at home rather than fight my way through the crowds on the high street. So give it a go, you’ll be surprised at just how much time and money you can save.
