Serious athletes are amongst the most committed individuals. In this regard, it is no surprise that they concentrate fully on their diet. However, there is always a little room for sports nutrition advice. Here are a few handy tips.
In order to get the best performance it is vital to consume healthy foods through the day. A lot of athletes will work out first thing in the morning. If this is the case, it is essential to have a decent breakfast.
Many athletes will concentrate on feasting on carbs and foods high in protein. But getting fats into the body is important too. Eggs are therefore ideal, and can be made a host of different ways each day. Fruit is also good of course, and a valuable source of fiber.
If working out as late afternoon and early evening comes, maintaining a good diet at all times is essential. Having healthy stocks of snacks such as nuts, pulses, fruit, dried fruit and so forth are good, whilst a protein bar can also be a useful addition.
Perhaps more essential than solids is concentrating on keeping fluid levels up. When exercising, this is easy to do. However, maintaining healthy levels at all times is harder to focus on, particularly when at work or so on. Doing so increases performance immensely. Replenishing immediately after exercise is key too.
Exercising late in the day is never a great idea, but if this is the only choice, then it is important to have some down time and eat a sensible as soon as possible. Eating directly before going to bed is not recommended, and will cause discomfort at best.
