Flashing lights, high octane energy, glamorously dressed people, and loads of money – who says casinos aren’t exciting? And thanks to this glitzy setting, Hollywood has decided to set some of its movies in casinos – with great results. Here are five movies that made our list as must see casino movies.
5. Casino Royale
In the twenty-first movie in the ever popular James Bond franchise we meet Le Cheriffe, a banker with a hefty debt to pay off. While trying to win a high-stakes poker tournament to pay his debt, Mr. Bond himself is doing everything he can to stop this from happening.
Great action scenes inside and outside the casino makes for a great Friday night movie.
4. Crouper
This movie takes a slightly different look into the world of high stake poker. As told from the perspective of the dealer, this movie is a direct contrast to everything we know, or think we know about high rolling poker players and casinos. The story takes place in London, thousands of miles away from the flashing lights of Las Vegas and takes the audience into the cold and rough world of gambling.
3. The Cooler
Bernie is a down on his luck nobody working a dead-end job and indebted to casino boss Shangri-La. The title of the movie ‘The Cooler’ refers to an unlucky individual whose mere presence at a poker table results in a streak of bad luck for the other players. But when Natalie, a waitress, rolls into town, Bernie’s luck is turned around. But things aren’t always as they seem in Las Vegas.
2. Ocean’s 11
This is a remake of the class 1960s caper. Take eleven professional criminals, a heist worth $150 million, three of the top casinos in Las Vegas, and lots and wheeling and dealing, and what do you get? This funny, clever, and action packed movie featuring an all-star ensemble cast.

This is a brutal gangster movie set in the popular casino town of Las Vegas. Based on true events, this movie is about how the mafia controlled the underbelly of the city, and what happens when they start losing it. Set in the fictional Tangiers Casino, the story actually revolves around the history of the famous Stardust Casino, which was demolished in 2007.
A great crime drama featuring some of the biggest names in the movie business.
