When you have children, very simple additions to a home can make a very big difference. From the colours of the walls to the floors that you choose, simple changes can make it far easier to keep your house looking great, no matter what your little monsters get up to.
Whilst it may be easy to decide things such as colour scheme (darker the better if you want to be able to easily hide stains for example), and even how you arrange your back garden, choosing flooring can be harder to judge.
After all, carpets can easily fray, lino will very easily rip and wood floors will dent if too much pressure is put on one place. However, unless your little one happens to be yielding a hammer, the chances are that those wood floors are likely to be the most durable and therefore the safest bet.
Not only are carpets likely to look worn and tired very quickly with young children playing on them all day, but they are also likely to trap dust and dirt, something that will happen far quicker when you have kids and could lead to the carpets being ruined surprisingly quickly. On top of this, the same dust and dirt can then lead to health problems for your child as time goes on.
Hardwood flooring remains by far the most attractive choice for almost any room. On top of this, it is easy to keep clean, easy to maintain and will take a great deal of battering before it starts to show any wear. Even then, such flooring can usually be replaced in sections, meaning that any damage that does occur is likely to be far cheaper to sort out.
So if you want floors that look great and can stand the workout your children are likely to give it, hardwood flooring is likely to be the best choice all round.
