While some experts believe that Roulette is simply a game of chance, others put their money on their tried and tested Roulette strategy. For a long time people have been devising numerous Roulette strategies that they claim can help you win big. And while the skeptics disagree, there has surely got to be some sort of strategy to help you become a better Roulette player?
In all seriousness, there is in fact not much you can do in terms of strategy in the game of Roulette. The only thing that comes to mind would be to try to keep the house edge to a minimum.
But just because there is no hard and fast strategy when it comes to Roulette does not mean there is nothing you can do to better your chances. Below are a few standard Roulette rules that you should look out for:
Learning the rules to achieve success in Roulette
Rule #1: Watch for the ‘Surrender’ option
This is not the same as the Blackjack rule of the same name. In Roulette, this rule applies to outside bets which pay even money only. This rule indicates that you will only lose half your bet if the ball lands on the 0 or 00, as opposed to the whole amount. This drastically affects the house edge. The downside is that the payoffs aren’t as big for outside bets, but by simply finding a table with the Surrender rule, the odds are shifted in your favour.
Rule #2: Consider the 0 and 00
Not only is the 0 and 00 an interesting rule, it is one of the simplest Roulette strategies. Keep an eye out for tables with only one 0, or European tables. These tables offer a much better house edge which range from 5.26% to 2.7%. This is often considered as one of the most powerful Roulette strategies.
Rule #3: En Prison
This rule applies when the ball lands on 0, and only works for even-money outside bets. If this happens, the player does not immediately lose his bet, but the bet remains on the board – i.e. in prison. The fate of the bet is only decided on the next spin. If the previous bet wins, the money is returned to the player as is. If it loses, the money is lost to the player. If, however, 0 appears again the bet remains ‘in prison’.
